Abstract: Professor Kervin examines the historic baptismal liturgies of the United Church of Canada and the ways in which the church has reformed the baptismal rite throughout its history. He characterizes the church's revisions of its baptismal rites as an evolutionary process in which the church has sought to honour tradition, while responding to present needs and understandings.
