Abstract: The creation of an environment where discussion and the raising of conflicting views can take place is of major importance. Difficult and controversial topics are not buried and ignored but are taken up in the context of relationships and of community where the norms of interaction emphasize respect for the other, and provide latitude and tolerance for individual expression and for the development of voice.
