Description: This article focuses on Robin Elliott's views on the importance of teaching Canadian music. Elliott was recently appointed as Jean A. Chalmers Chair in Canadian Music at the University of Toronto. From his experience, Elliott has observed that Canadians show marginal interest in their national musical heritage, but he continues to be an advocate for increasing Canadian citizens’ awareness of Canadian music.
