Description: In this article, Shand looks back over ten years of columns in the Canadian Music Educators’ Association Newsletter which focused on “assisting educators wanting to teach Canadian music.” These columns have described a variety of projects involving composer commissioning to encourage works for student performers, reports from teachers involved in such projects, and suggestions for teachers interested in developing similar projects for their own classrooms. The work of the Canadian Music Centre and of the John Adaskin Project have also been regularly documented, and many pedagogical resources, including specific repertoire for various ensembles, have been listed and reviewed over the years.
