|Abstract: ||Purpose- Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for weight-management, specifically for physiotherapists (PTs), currently do not exist. The purpose of this study was to reach consensus on recommendations for the management of overweight and obese adults for Canadian physiotherapy practice. Methods- A modified Delphi Method was used. Participants rated the importance and feasibility of weight management interventions on a 9 point scale during two rounds of an e-survey and a conference call. The mean and proportion of agreement were analyzed to determine inclusion in the recommendations. Results: Twenty-one PTs were recruited via the Snow ball method. Seventeen (81.0 %) completed Survey 1. Ten (47.6%) were available for the conference call and completed Survey 2. Eight of 34 interventions received High mean ratings (7.00 - 9.00) in both importance and feasibility by at least 66.7% of participants. These interventions were primarily related to physical activity prescription. Lack of consensus was associated with differences in area of practice, available resources and clinical settings. Conclusions- Eight interventions were recommended for the physiotherapy management of overweight and obese adults in Canada. PTs recognize the importance of interventions but need support to make these practices feasible. A modified Delphi approach is an effective method for consensus about practice.|
