Title: Ask the experts: are universities and community colleges becoming more alike?
Authors: Skolnik, Michael L.
Keywords: universities

Issue Date: Sep-2004
Publisher: Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto
Series/Report no.: Ask the Experts;
Abstract: Universities and community colleges are becoming more alike. There are two main reasons. The old linear distinction between research and application is breaking down as we develop new understandings of how knowledge is acquired AND universities can simply not meet the sheer volume of demand for higher education in our knowledge society. Almost half of community colleges in Canada today offer bachelor's degrees.
