Because some solitary bees and wasps are just emerging when others are starting to test, and because it is possible later in the summer to confuse an unemerged old nest with a new (unless cocoons are dissected), the original field records carried 2 generations so as to guarantee the separation of old from new nests. As each SOURCE spreadsheet offers only one generation this module's function for splitting two generations apart is no longer needed, but the functions for translating nest names to species names and undoing old translations remain useful.
