This collection contains most of the tools that programmers may need.

Note that column W in the 'SOURCE' files is not quite fully expanded.

Examples: (i) the dated events or dot segments of regular records (e.g. the '.fn060625x060731' in ')olA_db.fn060625x060731&5-MI5%0#:' ; (ii) the 'egg harvest' versions of special record segments, e.g. the '&8' in '|olA_db.n060618&8#:'; (iii) the loss '-MI5' above which is both a cause of deaths (MI = mites) and its magnitude (5 immatures).

The 'dotSOURCE' spreadsheets of 04.10 and 11.06 are a tentative response to (i). Probably all of (i) to (iii) need resolution before (say) PostgreSQL data basing. For year-by-year analyses, going from 'SOURCE' via Python to a special output file, like those filed under 'COUNT', is quite adequate. Data basing would offer the additional possibility of following particular nest blocks across years.

The files '04a. Data coding' and '04b. Worked examples' are intended for anyone who uses the SOURCE spreadsheets, whether programmer or not. (a) A quick understanding of column W coding saves having to read very long spreadsheet lines; (b) column W can be filtered with simple spreadsheet formulas like 'countif' for quick explorations; (c) accidentally introduced white space or missing colons in column W block Python expansion of the record ---but the missing expansion can often be quickly inserted by hand because of the redundancy in the code.
