3.2 mm cavities, some provisioned with chrysomelid beetle larvae for Symmorphus cristatus.
4.8 mm cavities in early summer. At the same date the provisions are gone and slightly shrunken bright yellow prepupae are seen in neighbouring cavities.

Cavity width, provisioning and overwintering prepupal colour allow good but not perfect sorting of Symmorphus canadensis and S. cristatus.
