University of Toronto Library 2001.

Millar MacLure obtained his B.A. at Acadia University and his doctorate at the University of Toronto. He joined the Department of English at Victoria College in 1953. His field of research was the English Renaissance, particularly Christopher Marlowe and George Chapman. From 1960 to 1965 he edited The University of Toronto Quarterly. This work no doubt prevented him from becoming -- as first planned -- Associate Editor, under F. E. L. Priestley, for the 1962-63 edition of Representative Poetry, but he nonetheless edited and annotated the selections from Edmund Spenser in the first volume in 1962. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 1981.
