Short poem

John Milton (1608-1674)

Paradise Lost: Books XI-XII: Editorial Summary

In BOOKS XI and XII the Archangel Michael presents Adam with a prophetic survey of the fallen world and its history, in the form of a series of visions, giving place to narrative and explanation, which reveals to him the full meaning of the promised redemption by Christ, the Last Judgment, and the creation of a new Heaven and Earth. The survey and explanation completed, Adam and Eve quit Eden hand in hand.
