Concordance

Phyllis Gotlieb (1926-)

Hospitality

              1Da Vinci and the man on the bed stare
              2at each other through the dark air of
              3death watch. The dying man more than half
              4suspects from the black glitter
              5beneath the eaved brows that it is Death
              6watching;

              7            Da Vinci moodily
              8hones in his mind the silver
              9saw he has made to trepan the skull.

Notes

9] trepan: to cut out a circular section of the skull with a surgical instrument named a trepine.
